Luis Enrique and Robert Moreno: A divorce that comes from afar

  /  autty

It became clear enough that a significant personal problem has ruined the relationship between Luis Enrique and Robert Moreno.

The pair were always friends, and anyone who knew them knew that.

"Robert is a voracious coach," Luis Enrique wrote.

"He's dissatisfied by nature and has an amazing ability to analyse problems and find solutions."

But that's all in the past now. That relationship has been shattered. It's not something that's come from nowhere either, it's come from afar.

That period beginning on March 26, when Luis Enrique had to return to Spain urgently due to a call from home, and tensions and disagreements started.

Luis Enrique felt that the chain of command wasn't being respected by Robert.

To add to this, decisions were made against the Faroe Islands and Sweden that the absent coach didn't agree with.

The decision to start Kepa Arrizabalaga over David De Gea went strictly against his orders.

Not with Robert

Luis Enrique met with Luis Rubiales on October 31 in Zaragoza and he was clear that if he returned, he didn't want his former assistant as part of his team.

He didn't say it as directly as that, but the hint was big enough for the message to be understood.

The long divorce has ended now, but Moreno's lawyers want an improvement on the 500,000 euros being offered.
