Ecstasy pills designed to look like the face of Lionel Messi have been seized at a music festival by police.

While searching party-goers on their attempted entry to a music festival in Argentina's capital of Buenos Aires, police found 10 ecstasy pills that appeared to have been made with the World Cup winning icon in mind.

The pills were seized from an alleged dealer on Thursday (May 4), who tried to smuggle a bag concealed under clothes into the venue. Their identity has not revealed by law enforcement.

Police are said to have been left astonished after spotting 10 of the 11 pills inside the bag carrying the design of the PSG forward, who helped his country to World Cup glory in December.

Messi would likely be left mortified by his likeness being used on the pills, with ketamine and marijuana also reportedly seized during the extensive search.

The small blue pills appear to show Messi looking to the right with one ear on display, as well as the beard he has worn since around 2016.

Messi is now back training with PSG having been suspended by the club after some confusion over scheduled time off.

It has also been confirmed that he will be leaving the Ligue 1 giants in the summer at the expiration of the two-year contract he signed back in 2011.

Messi, 35, has apologised to his current side ahead of a possible return to Barcelona, having also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

Footballers aren't often associated with pills, but Pele was of his own accord by becoming the first-ever ambassador for erectile dysfunction.

Although the Brazil icon insisted that he never needed to use viagra himself, he was willing to raise awareness back in 2002.

He later said: "I haven't used it, not yet. My contract was to tell people to use it with prescription not that I started to use it."
