Militao: Considered retirement after second injury, it's been tough two years

Ahead of Brazil's friendly with South Korea, Militão appeared at Brazil's press conference to talk about how the injury has affected him and his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti.

In the last two years you have missed up to 438 days of action due to two ACL injuries to your knee.
"After the second injury, a lot of thoughts flashed through my head. I thought about giving up playing football because it's not easy, but with the help of my wife, my daughter and my team-mates I am able to play today."

"It's been a tough two years with two very complicated injuries, and the second time you get injured you face it in a different way because you already know the process, but it's not easy to deal with."       "You have to rely very much on your family and God ...... It takes you out of the life and training you are used to, and all of a sudden you have to stay at home and rely on the help of others. Thank God I recovered from my injury and returned to a high level of competition, which wasn't easy."
In June you didn't make the Brazil squad, now you can work with Carlo Ancelotti again
"My time with him helped me a lot, we had a lot of exchanges and he helped not only me but the whole national team, he is an amazing man with a great prestige with what he has achieved, while I needed to perform well at the club to consolidate my national team position in the national team."
Competition for the centre-back position in Brazil is so fierce that you could be playing at right-back
"Right now I play at full-back. I've played a couple of times at wing-back for São Paulo, Porto and at the World Cup ...... Playing at wing-back is fine with me, but I've always played at centre-back and it's important to stand firm in the middle of the park, and I'll do my best to help out in whichever position I play.
