Mourinho Explains Eye Bruise: Youngster Lacosta hit me with a ball while I was wearing glasses

Mourinho explained why he had a black eye during an interview with Spanish channel La Sexta's El Chiringuito.

Host Josep Pedrerol also jokingly brought up the previous conflict between Valverde and Tchouaméni.

Mourinho said: "No, it's not like that. It was poor Lacosta, a Castilla kid, whose kick hit me. I was wearing glasses at the time, and the ball hit me directly."

Mourinho then humorously added: "But he wasn't called up for the last game because of it."

Mourinho also spoke about the Real Madrid locker room he saw after taking over.

"What I saw was a locker room very eager to win. What I saw was a locker room willing to listen to common sense, because from day one, all my requests to them were common sense."

"So far, I haven't encountered any situations that required me to be that tough leader. I can indeed be that person sometimes, but they allowed me not to show that side."

Mourinho also revealed the team's current discipline and daily requirements.

"Their performance is impeccable. I told them that what I ask for is common sense."

"For example, I ask them to arrive at the training ground an hour early, not 5 minutes early; that's common sense. This is today's football. You must arrive early, have a proper breakfast under the supervision of a nutritionist, go to the gym for preventive training every day..."

"All of this is for yourselves, and also for our entire team. All my requests to them are just common sense."
