Real Madrid will play away at Racing Santander in LaLiga January 11th at 15:15 UTC on November 1. Head coach Mourinho spoke at the pre-match press conference.

Mourinho: "Before we start, on behalf of myself and the entire club, I would like to express my condolences to the victims of the (train collision) accident."
On the match
Mourinho: "We are in good form, we have trained well, and we are fully prepared for this match. Since being promoted to LaLiga, Racing Santander have played five home games, winning three and drawing two, and they have played very well.
"The match is on Sunday afternoon, a kick-off time we are not used to, and it will be difficult. If we win again, our previous victory will count for more. If we don't, it will mean less.
"We must respect Racing Santander. They have a very distinct playing style, and in the different phases of the game they will play with the ambition to win. We will not be caught off guard. We know how difficult this match is."
On the Ballon d'Or
Mourinho: "I had the privilege of working with Kane. He is a great person in every respect. Although I am personally disappointed not to have won, I am happy for Kane. He deserves it."
What has changed in the team after El Clásico?
Mourinho: "Nothing. Since I took over, we started with wins, and although we lost later, what I have seen has always been the same. Of course, expressions change with results, but in both victory and defeat I have always seen the same empathy, respect, willingness to work and sense of balance.
"We are not a very experienced team, but I do see maturity in us as a group. We stay calm in difficult moments, and also in moments of glory.
"We celebrated in Barcelona, but after that it was back to the bus, the plane, a day off and normal training, with the same focus and motivation. When we started preparing for this game, I saw a serious attitude. I am very happy with this maturity.
"As I said at the press conference in Barcelona, our goal this season is not to win one game against Barcelona, but to win the league title. We are working towards that."
On the upcoming schedule
Mourinho: "This schedule is dangerous. Every game is dangerous, and even more so away from home, because away games come with their own troubles. Racing Santander have not lost at home, AEK Athens will be affected by their derby against Panathinaikos, and Mestalla is never an easy place to play. The difficulties are piling up.
"This is a test of our resilience. Four consecutive away games is a very difficult situation. We should have played yesterday and then in Valencia on Saturday. That is the 'great gift' they gave us, but it is the reality, and we have to face it."
On his philosophy
Mourinho: "As I get older, I feel more balanced, to the point that I don't care what others say. If someone criticizes me, it doesn't affect me. Some people say I did this or that at Barcelona, and I no longer buy into that either.
"The players won at Barcelona. If I feel I helped after a game, I will be very happy. I am not braver or more conservative, and I am not more defensive or more offensive.
"Early in my career I was labeled a defensive coach, yet that defensive coach won 100 points and scored more than 120 goals. I hope to get as many points and score as many goals this season. If there is anything different about me, it is that I am no longer stubborn.
"I am willing to study and to draw conclusions from what I see, hear and discuss. Sometimes it is not just about listening, but also about sensing how the players are in training. That's it. I am calm, very calm now, and I hope the team can stay calm too."
On the right-back position
Mourinho: "This pains me. I don't like having two players for one position and then putting someone else there. It makes me a bit sad, but the team's interest comes first. So having Valverde play at right-back is for the good of the team. Alexander-Arnold and Dumfries have both accepted this arrangement well.
"This is for the team, not against any particular player. They will all get playing time, and Valverde will not start tomorrow. In the Barcelona match, because of special circumstances, all three of them played. I don't think anyone will ask to leave. The season is very long, and I don't think that will happen."
On Vinicius
Mourinho: "There is no fixed starting lineup. Today's starting lineup might be completely different in a few weeks. Football today is not what it was 20 years ago. It is more intense, faster-paced and far more physically demanding.
"Nowadays it is very difficult to recite a team's fixed starting lineup from memory, as you could many years ago, so it is hard to say we have one. As I said, the team performs better when there are different types of players in midfield. That impression is correct, but it is a matter of principle. As for calling them 'starters'? No, I don't think so.
"The situation with Vinicius is simple: he is suspended for the league match, so he can play in the Champions League. I like him very much, and I need him. But that doesn't mean he must start, and it doesn't mean this will become a problem. He is a great player, and we have an excellent squad."
