Porto Official Announcement
Prodigal son returns home: Andre Silva rejoins Porto Football Club, with both parties signing until the end of the 2026/27 season, including a one-year renewal option. The 30-year-old Portuguese international striker returns to his boyhood club, where he played from 2011 to 2017, after many years.
Andre Silva was born in Baguim do Monte. At the age of 7, he had a trial at Salgueiros club and stayed, then transferred to Boavista. After a brief stint at Estádio do Bessa, he returned to play in the Paranhos region, playing as an attacking midfielder at the time, and his teammates called him "Deco."
In 2010, at just 15 years old, his man-of-the-match performance in a game against Salgueiros and Porto attracted interest from Portugal's three biggest clubs. He ultimately chose his beloved team, representing Padroense in his first youth season. In his second season, he officially donned the Porto blue and white jersey and quickly emerged. He played 90 matches for the U17 and U19 teams, scoring 67 goals, and won the 2011/12 National Youth League Championship with the U17 team.
At 18, Andre Silva made his first-team debut for Porto B in a match in Aveiro, which the team won. He accumulated 93 appearances and scored 27 goals for the B team, also winning the league championship with them, and was named the best player in the 2015/16 Liga Portugal 2 (second division). He then made his first-team start in a Portuguese League Cup match against Marítimo at the Estádio do Dragão.
In his second season after being promoted to the first team, Andre Silva wore the number 10 jersey and became Porto's top scorer with 21 goals. During the same period, he made his debut for the Portuguese national team and transferred to AC Milan in the 2017/18 season. After that, he had loan spells at Sevilla and Eintracht Frankfurt, and also won the UEFA Nations League with the Portuguese national team.
In the summer of 2020, he officially moved to the Bundesliga. That season, he played 34 games and scored 28 goals, ranking second in the Bundesliga top scorers list, only behind Robert Lewandowski (41 goals) and ahead of Erling Haaland (27 goals). The 1.86-meter tall center-forward then joined RB Leipzig, leading the team to two consecutive German Cup titles (2021/22, 2022/23). After that, he was successively loaned to Real Sociedad and Werder Bremen.
In August 2025, Andre Silva once again moved to Spain to join Elche, where he scored 10 goals in La Liga, helping the Valencian team successfully avoid relegation. After playing in Italy, Spain, and German leagues, Andre Silva returns to Portugal, strengthening coach Farioli's attacking lineup.
