OFFICIAL: UEFA disciplinary body rejects Barca's appeal in the UCL vs Atletico

According to the latest update from UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body(CEDB), protest from FC Barcelona regarding the ruling controversy over Pubill's handball is inadmissable. 

CEDB decision on FC Barcelona protest:

Following the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg played on Wednesday 8 April 2026 between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid, FC Barcelona filed a protest relating to a referee decision. On 13 April 2026,  the UEFA Control Ethics and Disciplinary Body declared the protest to be inadmissible.

In the 1st leg of the UCL Quarter-Final between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, at 54th minute, Pubill touched the ball after the goalkeeper kicks the ball which started to rolling, the referee had no decision over this action. After the match, FC Barcelona officially announced that they have filed a protest to UEFA over this affair. Barca believed that the referee, along with the assistant referee and VAR, has made a serious mistake, which was a dereliction of duty.
