Martin Odegaard insisted he was happy to be playing for Real Madrid again but said he was not entirely satisfied after their draw against former club Real Sociedad.

The Spanish champions opened their new LaLiga campaign with a frustrating goalless draw in San Sebastian on Sunday evening.

Norwegian international Odegaard spent last season on loan at Sociedad but lined up against his former team-mates in midfield to make his third appearance for Real.

But asked how satisfied he felt following his first LaLiga appearance for Real since 2015, Odegaard told Spanish channel Movistar+: 'I feel good but we're missing the win.

'It doesn't leave me very happy, although it's good to play for Real Madrid again.

'It was a game against friends and good people.'

Odegaard was included in the starting XI ahead of Brazil star Casemiro and lined up alongside veterans Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

And the Norwegian revealed he was asked to play a different role to the Brazilian and added it was initially 'difficult' to play alongside his more experienced midfield team-mates.

'[Zidane asked me to] help the team, make chances and goals, be between the lines and attack,' Odegaard added.

'I understand them [Kroos and Modric] well but it's always difficult at the start. They are players at an incredible level and that makes it easier for me.'
