Borussia Dortmund Official Announcement

Schlotterbeck suffered an injury to the medial ligament of his left ankle during Germany's match against Ivory Coast. He will be out for several months and will not be able to play for Germany and Borussia Dortmund. We are with you.

Nagelsmann's Statement

"We will miss Schlotterbeck greatly on the field. He is an excellent defender, especially with excellent offensive organizing abilities. This could have been his FIFA World Cup. Yesterday, we all tried to encourage him – fortunately, he is a very positive person and is already looking forward."

"He is currently still with the team, which is a good sign because he can also have an impact off the field. Despite his absence, in the center-back position, we still have Jonathan Tah, Rüdiger, Anton, and Malick Thiaw, so the squad configuration is still very strong."
