PSG director 'wants to sign Allegri while president backs current boss Tuchel'

Thomas Tuchel is facing a stressful summer as PSG's sporting director, Leonardo, pushes to replace the German with Max Allegri.

Allegri is on a sabbatical after five years at Juventus, missing this coronavirus-hit season while his potential Ligue 1 suitors sealed the French title early.

Tuchel's team were 12 points clear when the remaining 11 games were cancelled but the former Borussia Dortmund boss is still under pressure after last season's Champions League last-16 exit to to Manchester United.

However, while Leonardo - an ex-player at the Parc des Princes side - wants a change, the clubs' president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is backing Tuchel, according to L’Equipe.

Despite dominating Ligue 1, the club's true aim of Champions League success is creeping no closer to becoming a reality despite boasting Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in their squad.

Big signings have come and gone in Paris but since their 2011 takeover they have yet to make the semi-finals of the competition.

PSG booked their place in this seasons quarter-finals with victory over Borussia Dortmund despite first-leg defeat, but risk losing Neymar this summer.

The Brazilian is reportedly anxious for a move, and is being eyed-up by old club Barcelona.

The trickster's exit would be a huge blow to PSG's European hopes, and the entrance of a new top-class manager could be used as an attempt to keep Neymar.
