PSG to discuss Luís Enrique contract extension

  /  autty

According to Sports Zone, talks are about to get underway to trigger an extension included within Luís Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain contract.

It was at this time last year that the wheels began to come off at PSG. An elimination from the Coupe de France, followed by a Champions League exit at the Round of 16 phase at the hands of Bayern Munich put pay to Christophe Galtier’s time at the club. The Frenchman was replaced by Luís Enrique, who has thus far done an impressive job.

PSG’s lead over Stade Brestois in Ligue 1 looks unassailable, the club are in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, and thanks to Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad, Les Parisiens have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The club’s executives are happy with the job that the Spaniard is doing in the dugout and talks are set to get underway to extend his stay.

Luís Enrique’s deal runs until 2025, however, an option for a further year was inserted into the contract. PSG’s execs are very happy with their manager and want to build with him over the long term. As a result, talks over triggering that one-year extension are expected to begin soon, as per Sports Zone.

L’Équipe evoked a potential return to Barcelona earlier this week, with Deco an admirer. However, Luís Enrique is happy in Paris and like PSG’s hierarchy, is committed to a long-term project.
