Gerard Pique feels that Barcelona do not get the credit they deserve for their domination of LaLiga Santander over the last decade, and took a dig at rivals Real Madrid for prioritising the Champions League.
Barcelona have crashed out of the Champions League in painful fashion in each of the last two seasons, suffering heavy defeats which have overturned strong first-leg advantages.
Yet while Pique is hoping for European success this coming season, he does believe that his side deserve more credit for their domestic success.
"I agree that [the league titles] are undervalued," he told reporters in Miami ahead of Barcelona's two matches against Napoli.
"It is a unique achievement to win eight out eleven [LaLiga titles].
"We could focus on the Champions League and throw LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, but we don't play Russian roulette. Here we like to do things properly by laying a base with the league and enter the final stretch of the season strongly," he said, in a comment aimed at Los Blancos.
