On August 31, Barcelona will host Rayo Vallecano in the third round of La Liga.
In the first two rounds, Raphinha and Fermín both scored twice in the 5-0 thrashing of Elche, and each netted one goal in the 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao, currently leading Barcelona's scoring charts.
Their aim tonight is to extend their lead over Rayo Vallecano and become the 14th player in Barcelona's history to score in the first three rounds of La Liga.
The last player to achieve this feat was Messi in his final season at Barcelona (2020-21), when he scored braces against Elche (3-0), Athletic Bilbao (2-3), and Villarreal (4-0), respectively.
Eto'o (4 goals in the first 3 matches of the 2006-07 season), Ibrahimović (5 goals in the first 5 matches of the 2009-10 season), and Fàbregas (4 goals in the first 4 matches of the 2011-12 season) have also achieved this feat.
