Real Madrid's team reporter published an article earlier today stating that Mourinho was given freedom in decision-making and transfer support upon his return, but some senior executives now have doubts about his coaching performance.
October has been a difficult month for Mourinho.
His return had sparked hopes of a transformed Real Madrid. He was given the freedom to make decisions, his opinions on transfers were valued, and the club invested in strengthening the squad. That support raised expectations, but now, in some corridors of power, those expectations are beginning to fade. Doubts are surfacing from senior management, not from the locker room, where he still enjoys the players' backing.
Some influential voices within the club are unconvinced by what they are seeing. Diomande's limited involvement in the starting lineup and a controversial substitution decision involving Arda Güler have also drawn criticism. They had hoped this decision-making autonomy would translate into a more visible tactical overhaul. However, in terms of playing style and certain tactical choices, there are too many echoes of last season. The optimism that surrounded his return has, for some within the club, given way to more critical scrutiny. For some of the harshest critics, it has become just another risky gamble.
