Real Madrid had planned to hold a training session at 17:30 in Montreal on Thursday (23:30 in Spain), however they were forced to abandon those plans.
The risk of a thunderstorm caused Los Blancos, in compliance with Canada's legal regulations, to suspend the session.
On Thursday morning, Zinedine Zidane had to send everyone into the Montreal Impact Academy's facilities as the storm began to develop in Montreal. In both the United States and Canada, the law prohibits sports activities outside due to the risk of accidents from lightning. Real Madrid experienced this issue last year in Miami, while the Spanish national team also did in 2013 as they were preparing for the Confederations Cup, also in Miami.
Rain is not forecast in Montreal for Friday, although clouds are likely to cover the sky.
