Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea in the summer transfer window
Chelsea are said to be plotting an audacious bid to sign Real Madrid star Federico Valverde in the summer transfer window. Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign a new midfielder with talks to sign Moises Caicedo proving unsuccessful so far.
However, Pochettino will want to have the bulk of his business completed in time for the clash against Jurgen Klopp's side at Stamford Bridge. Valverde has now emerged as a potential option for the Blues - who are said to be planning a £112million move for the Uruguay international.
Spanish publication Nacional insists that Chelsea are interested in bringing Real Madrid midfielder to Stamford Bridge this summer. Blues owner Todd Boehly has apparently ‘prepared’ a bid of €130million (£112m) to sign Valverde in an effort to ‘break down the resistance’ coming from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Chelsea are reportedly prepared to quintuple Valverde’s salary to make him one of the best paid players in the Premier League. However, Madrid and Valverde are not looking to part ways this summer, according to 90min.
Valverde is widely regarded as one of Real's most important players following a breakout season, but speculation over his future has grown given the summer arrivals of Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler, as well as the ongoing possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe - who would not come cheap.
Real's stance on the matter has still not stopped other clubs taking an interest and asking about his availability. 90min's report adds that Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have enquired this summer, along with Bayern Munich and PSG - but none of those informal approaches were received positively and were immediately dismissed.
