Real Madrid won the Copa del Rey in 1982, but they were just a minute away from being knocked out of it at the semi-final stage.
That year, like this Thursday, Real Sociedad were the opponents and Los Blancos trailed 1-0 after the first leg in San Sebastian.
They were still behind going into the last few minutes of the second leg at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu until Juanito's late goal saw the tie go into extra time.
Real Madrid prevailed in the eventual penalty shootout, with Ito scoring the winning kick in the shootout.
This came just two days after Vujadin Boskov had been replaced by Luis Molowny in the Real Madrid dugout following defeats to Kaiserslautern and Las Palmas.
"It seems as if Molowny had a lucky star, but this win was generated with Boskov." Juanito said after the semi-final second leg.
"Don't forget that.
"My goal is dedicated to him."
Real Madrid went on to win the Copa del Rey final 2-1 against Sporting Gijon at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla in Valladolid.
This continued the curse put on Real Sociedad by Julien Comet, who said the Basque side would never win another Copa del Rey back in 1913.
That curse rang true until they lifted the trophy for the second time in their history in 1987, beating Atletico Madrid in the final.
