Rennes are interested in re-signing Ousmane Dembele on loan from Barcelona.
The winger is currently struggling with a thigh problem and is set to be sidelined until February, but Rennes are monitoring his situation, as reported by AS.
Dembele has made just nine appearances for Barcelona this season because of injury, but in any case the 22-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp.
With Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann ahead of him, Dembele is likely to find his playing time limited when he is back fit, while youngsters Ansu Fati and Carles Perez have also caught the eye.
Dembele joined Rennes aged 13 and eventually broke into the senior side, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in the 2015-16 season, which earned him a move to Borussia Dortmund.
If Dembele was to return to Rennes on loan then Barcelona would have to pay the majority of his wages, with the French club unable to contribute more than 30 per cent.
Since joining Barcelona in 2017, Dembele has made 74 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals and registering 17 assists.
Dembele has won two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana.
