Rodrigo Bentancur was forced off with a serious knee problem during Tottenham's 4-1 loss at Leicester in February and is not set to return to action until next season

The average recovery time taken for an ACL injury can be anywhere between seven and nine months. This would see the Uruguay international return in September if he recovers on schedule.

Bentancur has offered an update on his rehabilitation progress in a post on his Instagram story. The 25-year-old shared videos of his work in the Tottenham gym with the caption: "34 days less! *muscle emojis*."

Following his injury, Spurs released a statement which read: "We can confirm that Rodrigo Bentancur has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out of action for the remainder of the campaign. He will undergo surgery before beginning his rehabilitation with our medical staff.

"We're all behind you, Rodrigo! *heart emoji*."
