Football fans have joked Salt Bae stole the World Cup trophy after it emerged Argentina celebrated a replica when they won the festival of football last month.
Argentina had lifted the original World Cup trophy, but just minutes later it was whisked away by FIFA officials, as is customary. However, confusion arose when a replica had made its way down from the stands - with some players not realising it was a fake.
Two Argentine fans had produced the fake after they had hoped to get it signed. And as the Albiceleste worked out where the real version was, some fans have joked Salt Bae had taken the trophy.
One fan joked: "Salt Bae has been granted exclusive access to the real one."
"Salt Bae took the original trophy," a second joked. And a third tweeted, with a gif of Salt Bae: "I know who has the real one!"
However, another fan joked justice had been done after Salt bae touched the trophy: "Thanks for that, now we all know salt bae didn't actually touch and kiss the real trophy lol!"
