Schalke boss says players will have individual salt & pepper sachets for meals

Schalke manager David Wagner has revealed that his players will have their own individual salt and pepper sachets for team meals.

The Bundesliga is restarting on May 16 and players will be isolated in hotels before matches.

'We have a lot to organise now. I've been going from meeting to meeting. We focus on many details,' Wagner told The Times.

'We have to be in hotel quarantine for seven days before the first game. In the hotel, always the same housekeeping person has to clean the room of the same player, not every day, only every second or third day.

'We discuss salt and pepper. In the hotel, there can't be salt and pepper which everybody uses.

'Everybody has his own one-way [individual sachets of] salt and pepper when we go to lunch or dinner that nobody else is allowed to touch. Everybody has to take care.'

Among the rules for the Bundesligas return - the first major league to resume their programme after suspending play in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic - are detailed instructions for coaches, including wearing a protective mask over their face as they work from the dugouts.

RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann told a virtual news conference on Friday that he expected it would prove difficult to shout instructions to his players, even though they will be playing in empty stadiums where his voice will easily carry.

The new rules allow coaches to remove their mask to shout instructions, but only if a minimum distance of 1.5 metres away from others.
