Lega Serie A and the Italian football federation (FIGC) are set to ask the Italian government for assistance to help mitigate the economic damage that the global Coronavirus pandemic has caused Italian football according to Corriere dello Sport.
An estimated €600 million in revenue has been lost as a result of the virus which has led to the leagues and cups having to be postponed until at least April 3 although given the current extraordinary circumstances it would appear unlikely that any form of sporting activity will resume then.
As things stand it is currently unclear when football will resume if at all although there could be more clarity after tomorrow's meeting between European football's governing body UEFA, their 55 member associations and boards of leagues across the continent.
The report goes on to add that clubs could seek assistance from the Italian players associations when it comes to player wages although the report does state that it is a very complex matter and unlikely to come to anything.
