Palermo have avoided bankruptcy with the announcement they’ve reached an agreement with the local Mirri family.

The Serie B club was on the verge of crumbling after takeover bid from British investors was abandoned and the side returned to former President Maurizio Zamparini’s close associates.

“US Citta di Palermo and Damir srl announce with mutual satisfaction that we have reached an agreement thanks to which it will be possible to continue with renewed enthusiasm the path towards promotion,” read a statement.

“We open, with the passionate participation of a local businessman, a new phase in the history of Palermo, which promises to take the club back to the heights deserved by the city and the fans.

“Palermo President, Rino Foschi, thanks the Mirri family for their efforts over the last few days, proving their fondness for the Rosanero colours and the city of Palermo.”
