Barcelona head coach Quique Setien has made clear that he wants the season to be finished on the pitch.
If the 2019/20 campaign were to not be completed, Barcelona may be proclaimed champions due to having a two-point advantage over Los Blancos.
"I'd like to play and become a champion by playing, obviously," Setien told TV3.
"But the reality is that the situation is as it is and [the season] has been cut off.
"I don't know if that would be enough to grant a title or not. I am not going to feel like a champion, even if we have two more points than when I arrived; we were level with Real Madrid.
"But this is totally anecdotal. It's a very difficult situation for everyone.
"And what I really hope is that it will be solved as soon as possible, and we can go out and hug each other, and get back the old people who are suffering this situation more intensely. The rest is superfluous.
"If we have to end it and can't play... and if we do and play, great. Let's see if we can maintain that advantage."
There is already talk about Xavi Hernandez potentially succeeding Setien at the Camp Nou, but he is adamant that he wants to remain at the club.
"I have signed a fixed year-and-a-half deal and another conditional [year]," Setien added.
"I hope to see it through and even renew."
Setien already knows what he wants to do if and when Barcelona lift a trophy, be it in LaLiga Santander or the Champions League.
"I tell the players I'm in quite a hurry, I don't have much time to waste," he noted.
"And if we could win the Champions League and LaLiga... I've dreamed about it: walking around Liencres with the cup amongst the cows... with the Champions League over there..."
