Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli has admitted Isco did not meet the club's expectations, after the midfielder's contract was mutually terminated.
Isco signed in the summer after his Real Madrid contract expired at the end of last season.
The Spanish player's short time in Sevilla was confirmed to have ended yesterday, with the club confirming the termination of his contract after just four months.
Sampaoli admitted the midfielder had failed to live up to the club's expectations, when he was asked about Isco following Sevilla's 3-0 win in the Copa del Rey against Juventud Torremolinos.
'Isco is a great boy and I wish him the best', Sampaoli said, as reported by Marca.
'He leaves a player who has great capacity, but he did not meet the club's expectations.'
Isco featured 19 times for Sevilla across all competitions, with his solitary goal coming in the Champions League against FC Copenhagen.
A statement on the club's website read: 'Sevilla FC and Isco Alarcon have agreed to terminate the contract that united both parties since the player from Malaga joined the Nervionense club last summer after finishing his spell at Real Madrid.
'The club wants to wish Isco all the luck in the world in his new professional challenges.'
The 30-year-old had made a positive start to his Sevilla career and was a key feature to the starting line-ups fielded by previous coach Julen Lopetegui - who's now at Wolves.
Isco only completed two 90 minute matches since Sampaoli's arrival at the club in October.
The midfielder had opted to leave Real Madrid in the summer after nine years at the club, where he had scored 53 goals in 353 appearances.
During his time with Los Blancos, Isco won five Champions League titles, three LaLiga titles and four Club World Cups.
Isco has also scored 12 goals in 38 appearances for Spain, but has not been involved with the national team since 2019.
