Sevilla coach Luis García praised his players' attitude and desire to win in an interview with DAZN after the home victory against Valencia.
Juan Iglesias scored the winning goal for Sevilla in the 81st minute with a header from Khocholava's cross from a free-kick on the wing. Gayà's positioning error left him exposed to the offside trap.
When asked about the match and the winning feeling, Luis García said: "It was a match won through perseverance. I think we played 35 minutes of high-level football in the second half, not allowing the opponent to cross the midfield line. We kept tackling, winning back possession, and continuing to attack. Given the team's performance, the goal came too late. The opponent did have one chance, but they hardly threatened our goal for almost the entire match. We just lacked a bit of inspiration in the final third; the defenders and midfielders performed exceptionally well, while the forwards were not at their best. As a whole, the team played 35 minutes at a very high level."
Regarding Valencia's current situation, he stated: "I have the utmost respect for all professional players, as we all go through difficult times. Valencia is a big club, and I believe they can get through this. However, there's still a long way to go. We are in a happy moment right now, but football always has its ups and downs. I always use last year's Espanyol as an example; they performed well in the first half of the season, then struggled, and ultimately had their ups and downs. We are currently on an upward trend and must keep moving forward. When you're on a good run, you should enjoy the moment, but we also know that we're going to Deportivo La Coruña on Wednesday, and if we don't play well, we'll be severely punished. So we still have to keep working hard while enjoying these moments."
Regarding earning 10 points from 5 matches, he said: "That's right, 2 points per game, which is a fantastic average. We've kept consecutive clean sheets and are consistently scoring goals. What I'm most satisfied with is the players' attitude; they are always striving to win. There was even a period where we played too aggressively, pressing one-on-one at the back, and I thought at the time that if we didn't score, we would likely concede on the counter-attack, and it almost happened. But I can only take my hat off to their desire to win and their fighting spirit. We didn't wait for opportunities to appear; instead, we actively created them, and the results were good."
When asked about the team's squad, Luis García said: "We have a mix of experienced players like Juan, Jon Guridi, and Khocho, as well as players like Lucho. At the same time, some players are still adapting to the team and to playing here at home in La Liga. They come from different leagues, and I think there are quite a few players in the team who can do more. Isaac is in very good form and does an excellent job pressing, but today the forwards lacked inspiration. I have higher demands for them, and we must demand ourselves to continue improving."
