There was a special moment ahead of Spain's friendly match against Bosnia and Herzegovina as David Silva's effort for the national team were recognised.

The midfielder retired after the 2018 World Cup and was celebrated ahead of the match at the Estadio de Gran Canaria in Las Palmas, on the island where he is from.

Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales welcomed Silva onto the pitch, with the player bringing his son out with him.

He was presented with a commemorative shirt and took an honorary kick-off.

Silva played 125 times for the national team between 2006 and 2018 and scored 35 goals, making him the player with the sixth-most appearances and the fourth-most goals.
