According to informed sources, Barcelona is preparing a formal offer of approximately €100 million and is using agent Juanma Lopez to facilitate the deal. Barcelona has already contacted Alvarez's team and is negotiating with Atletico Madrid, who are asking for a higher price for the forward.
Sources added that the player himself is open to joining Barcelona, so personal terms will not be an issue.
Alvarez's contract with Atletico Madrid runs until 2030, having joined Atletico Madrid from Manchester City in August 2024 for a transfer fee that could reach €95 million.
Barcelona coach Flick and sporting director Deco both highly admire Alvarez, and the club has been following the Argentine forward for about a year.
