Sergio Ramos wouldn't be the first high-profile player to feature in the Olympic Games as an overage player.

Olympic rules for men's football state that squads have to be made up of players under the age of 23, but nations are allowed up to three overage players.
Over the years, there have been several stars of the game who have decided to represent their country at the Olympics.
ARGENTINA
Diego Simeone was part of the Argentina squad that won silver at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta - the first tournament where players over the age of 23 were allowed to play alongside the youngsters.
Marcelo Bielsa took Roberto Ayala, Gabriel Heinze and Kily Gonzalez to Athens in 2004 and won gold. Argentina defended their title four years later as Juan Roman Riquelme, Javier Mascherano and Nicolas Pareja helped the team to glory in Beijing.
Geronimo Rulli was part of the Albiceleste squad in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

ITALY
Gianluca Pagliuca became Italy's first overage Olympic player when he participated in the Atlanta Games in 1996. Andrea Pirlo has also competed in the Olympics and played at the Athens Games when he was 25 years old, winning bronze.
BRAZIL
Aldair, Bebeto and Rivaldo were the three overage players for Atlanta 1996 as Brazil won bronze. Ronaldinho also won bronze at the age of 28 at the Beijing Games. London 2012 saw Thiago Silva, Hulk and Marcelo form part of a Brazil side that won silver, before Neymar and Renato Augusto fired the Selecao to gold in their home Games in 2016.

NIGERIA
Emmanuel Amunike helped Nigeria win bronze in 1996 before John Obi Mikel repeated the feat in 2016.
AUSTRALIA
Mark Viduka is the only player over the age of 23 to represent Australia at the Olympics, doing so in Sydney in 2000.
CHILE
Ivan Zamorano also took part in the Sydney Games. The 33-year-old finished the tournament as top scorer and with a bronze medal.

CAMEROON
Patrick Mboma played alongside a young Samuel Eto'o in the gold medal-winning Cameroon team of 2000.
NETHERLANDS
At 33 years old, Roy Makaay represented the Dutch at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing as they reached the quarter-finals.
GREAT BRITAIN
For their home Games in 2012, Great Britain called up a 38-year-old Ryan Giggs, a 24-year-old Micah Richards and a 33-year-old Craig Bellamy. They were knocked out by South Korea on penalties in the quarter-finals.
URUGUAY
Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez were Uruguay's strikers at London 2012, scoring seven goals between them in six games.
SPAIN
Also at London 2012 were Javi Martinez, Adrian Lopez and Juan Mata, but Spain weren't able to progress from the group stages.
MOROCCO
Nordin Amrabat and Houssine Kharja played for Morocco in London and didn't make it through the groups either.
COLOMBIA
Teo Gutierrez is the only Colombian over the age of 23 to play at the Olympics, playing four matches and scoring three goals in Rio three years ago.
GERMANY
Sven and Lars Bender both played for Germany at the 2016 Games as they finished second to Brazil.
