Darwin Nunez is enjoying an impressive season with Benfica. So much so that the youngster has become one of European football's revelations of 2020/21.
Barcelona are one of the clubs said to be keeping tabs on his progress, but they face competition in pursuit of the Uruguayan. After Luis Suarez's departure, Ronald Koeman continues his search for a new forward and Darwin could be the man to do it.
That is the opinion of Turki Al-Sheikh, who is the owner of Almeria and the man responsible for bringing Nunez to Europe.
"This player connects with me and I feel paternal feelings towards him," Al-Sheikh wrote on Instagram. "He's one of my discoveries and I think he could be a magic medicine for Barcelona's attack. I think they should consider him."
A player to watch
The 21-year-old scored 16 goals and added three more assists in LaLiga Smartbank, before setting off for Benfica.
Nunez has scored five goals and provided one assist in five Europa League games this season, making Europe's other big clubs sit up and take note.
