'They say Ajax travelled to Real Madrid 4-1 reason' - Fans mock UCL holders

Real Madrid underwent an incredibly humiliating defeat in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Very few people expected holders Real to slump to a loss at home after managing to win the first leg of the last-16 clash against Ajax 2-1 at the Johan Cruyff Arena last month.

But they were overwhelmed at the Santiago Bernabeu and ended up losing the game 4-1.

Inevitably, a number of fans and others weighed in on social media to mock the Spanish giants following the defeat.

The Real kit was mocked up with a red stripe down it and another joker put up an image of a bottle of Ajax cleaning product with 4in1 on it.

Thobby Josh took advantage of the scoreline and joked: 'Someone said Ajax travelled to madrid 4-1 reason'.

While Rosham Gautam posted an image of Sergio Ramos pointing to the number on the back of his shirt and wrote: 'How many goals Ajax scored last night'.

The official Johan Cruyff account even weighed in with a joke and poignant message of their own in tribute to the former Ajax star.

They posted an image of his famous No 14 shirt from behind  to symbolise the scoreline between Real and Ajax.

The account then added the caption: 'Why couldn't you beat a richer club? I've never seen a bag of money score a goal.'

Dusan Tadic, who provided two assists and scored a single goal, was happy with his own display on Tuesday night: 'This is probably the best game of football I've ever played.

'We beat the best club in the world. I'm very proud and I think we made a lot of people happy tonight.'
