Toni Nadal, uncle and former coach of 20-times Grand Slam tennis champion Rafa, has called for the club to try and convince Lionel Messi to stay at Barcelona after it emerged he could become a new member of the club's board.
Nadal has joined forces with Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font ahead of the upcoming election.
If Font wins the presidency, Nadal will be in charge of institutional relations and will lead a new department created to promote good behaviour among youth players.
And he said that one of the priorities must be to try and retain the services of club legend Lionel Messi, but he is unsure whether he would be able to do so.
'I don't know if I see myself capable, but I would try for sure,' Nadal told Sport.
'I wish they gave me the opportunity to try. I would like to see him win another Champions League with us.
'Winning the Ballon d'Or and I would like him to help us make an exciting project.'
Messi had a very public fall out with the club during the summer transfer window following the appointment of manager Ronald Koeman.
Despite Messi's feelings being made clear, Nadal believes he remains motivated in the Barca colours.
He added: 'In the games I have seen, I see him motivated and at a good level.
'I always trust the best and Messi has been the best in the world for many years, he continues to be so and I am convinced that he still has to give the club a lot of satisfaction.'
