Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Harry Winks has left the club, and will join Leicester City.

The midfielder came through the club's academy system, and spent 21 years with the team working his way up to the senior side, making over 200 appearances in a Spurs shirt.

Harry Winks has departed Tottenham Hotspur to complete a £10million move to Leicester City. Joining Spurs as a five-year-old, the midfielder's move to the East Midlands brings to an end his long association with the football club.

Named on the Tottenham bench for the very first time against Liverpool in March 2014, he made his senior bow for the club under Mauricio Pochettino eight months later during a Europa League win over FK Partizan. Later going on to feature regularly for the Argentine, including a start in the 2019 Champions League final against Liverpool, first-team opportunities unfortunately dried up for the player during Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte's tenures.

The 27-year-old will soon have the opportunity to come up against Tottenham for the very first time as Spurs and Leicester go head-to-head in a pre-season clash in Bangkok on Sunday, July 23. Winks departs Tottenham after registering five goals and six assists in 203 appearances for the football club.

However, he fell out of favour at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and spent last year on loan at Italian club Sampdoria.

Spurs shared the news in a tweet, adding: 'Wishing you all the best, Winksy!'

Leicester confirmed their acquisition of Winks on their own Twitter page, noting that it was a three-year deal and subject to EFL approval.

In a statement, Spurs said: 'We have reached agreement with Leicester City for the transfer of Harry Winks.

'A product of our Academy, Harry progressed through our ranks and was handed his professional debut as an 18-year-old in our 1-0 Europa League group stage win over Partizan Belgrade in November, 2014.

'In total, Harry made 203 appearances during his time with us, which included standout performances in our games against Real Madrid as we progressed through the 2017/18 Champions League group stage undefeated.

'Scoring five goals in our colours, the first of which came in his first full league start as we defeated West Ham United 3-2 at White Hart Lane in November, 2016, he captained the side for a Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in March, 2020.

'Now 27, Harry spent time on loan at Italian side Sampdoria last season where he made 20 appearances. He also has 10 international caps for England.

'We wish Harry all the best for the future.'
