Tottenham news: Spurs are still looking to replace Fabio Paratici in the Director of Football hotseat, with Barcelona's Mateu Alemany of interest.

That's according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that the Spanish executive is an option to become a director with Spurs when he leaves Barca in September. Alemany had been linked with a switch to Aston Villa earlier this window, but turned it down and planned to stay with the Blaugrana.
With his exit confirmed, while former footballer Deco takes his place at the Catalonian outfit, it opens the opportunity to make a switch. Alemany has been at Barcelona since 2021 and has been responsible for the side's resurgence with some shrewd business in the transfer market.
Moves for the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde have been highlights, while his ability to gain control over the wage structure and retain promising youth on long-term contracts has helped a side that's been in financial turmoil. That's not to say all of his moves have been successful, with the jury still out on Raphinha and Ferran Torres, having made big-money moves.
An appointment for a new director of football could help Spurs gain further clarity on their plan to build a new era under head coach Ange Postecoglou. The Australian coach has been tasked with turning around poor results and a trophy drought at the club, while also delivering exciting football.
The signings of James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario will have certainly brought some hope for the new season, though the loss of Harry Kane could be sorely felt for the future. It remains to be seen where the road will lead for Spurs, but their journey is now underway.
