England, already assured of qualification, defeated Serbia 2-0 at Wembley. At the post-match press conference, Tuchel stated that to perform well at next summer's World Cup in the sweltering heat of North America, it is essential to clearly define players' roles and actively implement squad rotation.

Tuchel stated that England will need to make a series of attacking substitutions in the latter stages of next year's World Cup to secure victory.
Tuchel remarked: "Playing in 40-degree heat after a long season demands a strong bench. England are most affected by this, with their lengthy domestic campaign and two cup competitions. We must be 100% prepared for rotation to remain competitive deep into the World Cup."
"Once the World Cup begins, I believe clarity of player roles is paramount. Even top-tier players must honestly assess: 'Can I accept this role? Does it benefit me? Can I fulfil it for the team's greater good?'"
Tuchel has already warned that Kane, Bellingham and Foden cannot all start simultaneously within his current England system and formation. This means at least one star player will be left out, while Eze, Rodgers and Palmer also face the challenge of securing their place in the final squad.

Tuchel stated: "They were selected for England because they are regulars, club captains and key players."
"I informed my players that ten of them would have to sit on the bench, but as you've seen, I've typically only been able to select 21 out of 23. I genuinely dislike having to tell someone like Alex Scott 'you're not in the squad' as I did yesterday. I don't relish it, and it pains me – even being a substitute isn't something players enjoy. Yet I firmly believe they'll accept it. We need to be clear about everyone's role."
"Once you're in a major tournament, what is your role? I think it's straightforward during a ten-day training camp. Sometimes you're selected, sometimes you're not, or you have a slight edge in a particular competition and can secure a regular starting spot. I believe that's perfectly normal."
FIFA has yet to confirm the exact squad size, but given the tournament's scale and match conditions following the expansion to 48 teams, it is likely to remain at 26 players.
Tuchel added: "I don't expect FIFA to announce new numbers anytime soon. We must adapt to the five-substitution rule and think outside the box – perhaps maximising midfield changes. We could make one or two adjustments at half-time to preserve substitutions for the second half."
