Mbappe “the saviour”
According to The Athletic, everything at Real Madrid right now is geared around acquiring Kylian Mbappe, although whether that is this season or next remains to be seen.
For his part, Mbappe has reportedly held a meeting with Paris Saint Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi, in which he has reiterated his desire to leave.
It is thought that the Frenchman outlined his intention to leave on a free next summer if a bid wasn’t accepted from Los Blancos this summer.
Odegaard to depart
Although it is not yet confirmed at time of writing, Martin Odegaard is set to depart Real Madrid for Arsenal on a permanent deal. Odegaard spent the latter half of last season on loan with the Gunners, and given a lack of minutes available with Los Blancos, has decided to return to north London on a permanent basis.
For their part, Real Madrid are set to recoup a “bit less than 40 million euros”, and also have a first refusal option should Arsenal look to move the 22-year-old on in the future. With the money made from this sale and Raphael Varane, could they make a late move for Mbappe?
Agreement in place with Haaland
In a shocking turn of events, Real Madrid have also got an agreement in place with Borussia Dortmund to sign Erling Haaland when his release clause becomes active next summer, as per Spanish journalist Siro López.
This seems like it needs to be taken with an entire mine of salt rather than the usual pinch, but should it prove to be true, it would mean that Real Madrid could potentially field the two biggest young prospects on the same pitch, in a return to the old ways of signing multiple Galacticos.
