Valverde said it must be “the moment of politics” and pointed out that “seeing riots in Barcelona is neither usual nor pleasant”
Ernesto Valverde dealt with a complex press conference, with constant references to the situation that Catalonia is experiencing, and not only because of its influence on the nearby Clasico at the Camp Nou against Madrid.
Valverde was directly asked about his personal opinion about the judicial ruling of ‘process’. "It is clear that the club has made a statement in which we are represented and I am sitting here because I am the coach of Barcelona: I absolutely adhere to the statement made by the club," he said.
Regarding the incidents in Barcelona these days, Valverde invoked the political function. “I don't want to extend much in all this. It is clear that it does not correspond to what we know of Catalonia in recent years, that these riots have left a little of what is usual. We recognize ourselves in the fact that everyone has their ideas and can express them freely. And politicians must do their job, ”he reflected.
Valverde was even invited to compare his experience in Catalonia with that he has lived for so many years in the Basque Country.
Although he began by answering that "I do not want to walk much in comparisons between Catalonia and the Basque Country, because this is not a personal interview, but is a press conference for a match in which I am a Barça coach and I represent many people", in the end, he pointed out that these realities "do not seem comparable in any case", although "there are things that are not pleasant to see, it is evident."
Finally, he asked for a political solution again. “It is the moment of politics to look for points of understanding. We hope it does, ”he concluded.
