Zidane won't punish Bale over ‘Wales, golf, Madrid’ flag (Marca)

Zinedine Zidane is not planning to punish Gareth Bale over his actions while on Wales duty, according to reports.

The forward posed with a flag with the words 'Wales, golf, Madrid... in that order' on it after securing Euro 2020 qualification on Tuesday night after fans sang a song with those lyrics.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's match, Bale suggested the chant was just a bit of fun from the fans.

And there was a suggestion Zidane might want to respond to Bale's actions after he returns to Madrid on Thursday.

But, according to Marca, there are no plans to treat the 30-year-old differently to any other player.

Zidane has long had an issue with Bale's antics yet has decided not to respond to them since returning as manager in March.

The French manager is planning to greet him, shake his hands and congratulate him for earning qualification before he trains as normal.

Once Real decided they would not sell the Welsh winger in the summer, Zidane decided not to continue any conflict.

He also wants the squad to be united and is not intending to create any internal problems by responding to Bale.

The banner also ranks low on Bale's list of infractions, in Zidane's eyes, especially compared to playing golf while his team-mates faced Spurs in pre-season or not travelling with the squad.
