Aston Villa are waiting on an answer from Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams over his next move as Chelsea wait in the wings.
The USA international has a relegation release clause of around £25million that Villa are prepared to activate, however, they are not alone.
Nottingham Forest, Brighton, West Ham and, in recent weeks, Chelsea have all asked about the 24-year-old, who has been working on his fitness following hamstring surgery in March.
Chelsea's prime midfield targets remain Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Southampton's Romeo Lavia but Adams is being considered as he is a prospective signing of great value in an inflated market.
Forest have made a number of checks including talking to USA coach Gregg Berhalter about Adams but also have PSV Eindhoven's Ibrahim Sangare on their wish list.
Villa have already signed Youri Tielemans but admire the energy and dynamism Adams brings to a team.
They also know that Douglas Luiz is a potential target for Tottenham while Burnley have asked about their 20-year old midfielder Aaron Ramsey.
