Ricardo Rodriguez is “very happy” at Milan, his agent assures, and “will prove to be one of the best full-backs in Serie A”.
The Swiss international joined the Rossoneri from Wolfsburg last summer, and has started six of seven league games under Gennaro Gattuso this season.
“He’s putting in high level performances,” Gianluca Di Domenico told Corriere dello Sport.
“He’s been able to adapt to the Italian league a little more, because almost all of those who come from abroad struggle initially - just look at André Silva.
“Ricardo took time to acclimatise to the rhythms of the team, and now Milan know how to use him better too.
“There’s huge professional respect toward Gattuso, the Coach is always available and I think he’s a unique person in football.
“He loves the lads and would do anything for them, and the players know that. It’s a rare quality and everyone appreciates it.
“Competition with Diego Laxalt? A club like Milan must have a big squad, to help and to allow players to rest. Last year Ricardo played every game.
“Milan signed him because he was one of the best full-backs in Europe and in the Bundesliga and I’m sure he will prove to be one of the best full-backs in Serie A.
“Ricardo’s disciplined style in defence is very much appreciated by the Coach and his teammates, he always manages to find solutions with his passing and even when he’s under pressure he doesn’t often make mistakes.
“He’ll be even more complete now because he has the licence to participate the attacking phase too, to create opportunities to cross like he did for [Patrick] Cutrone against Olympiakos in the Champions League.
“He wants to stay at Milan, he’s very happy there.
"A renewal? The important thing is to have a great season, then we will meet each other in the future.”
