Argentine Football Association (AFA) has sent a protest to the CONMEBOL signed by the council president, Claudio Tapia, which ensures that the Albiceleste was "clearly prejudiced" by the referees in the 2-0 defeat Brazil in the Copa América.
"In particular, by not using the VAR in two specific moves that would have undoubtedly reversed the final result ," the statement added, referring to possible penalties against Nicolás Otamendi and Kun Agüero, the second of these at the origin of the move of the second Brazilian goal.
The AFA, in a text of six pages published on its website and which was sent to Conmebol, assures that there was "imprudence" in the arbitration appointment because Zambrano had "negative antecedents". In addition, he maintains that the Ecuadorian "does not possess" the "technical qualities to lead a party of such transcendence".
In the six-page extract, the AFA has ended up insinuating that the referee's performance was influenced by the refereeing committee. If that was not enough, they are also questioning Alejandro Dominguez, the CONMEBOL president, of a lack of ethics, loyalty and transparency.
The AFA wants to listen to the audios
The Argentine Football Association will make use of its power for Conmebol to make public the communications between Zambrano and the person in charge of the VAR, the Uruguayan Leodán González , who would have suggested to the referee to review on the screen the doubtful actions within the Brazilian area and that could end up in a penalty for Argentina.
