Alvaro Morata speaks out on his Juventus future as loan spell ends

Spain forward Alvaro Morata has spoken out on his Juventus future after his loan spell at the Italian club ended.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid man had spent the last two years on loan in Italy from Atletico Madrid, but it seems he will be forced to return back to the Spanish capital this summer.

That's at least in the meantime, with the forward having plenty to work out regarding his future next season and beyond.

'It’s not up to me, I can't do anything about it,' he told Relevo, via Football Italia.

'But I want to go where the club is interested in playing me.'

The 29-year-old made 48 competitive appearances for Juventus last season, scoring 12 goals and registering nine assists.

The £50million man, who scored Spain's only goal as they drew with Portugal on Thursday, has been a favourite of Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri during his stay, so his comments are perhaps aimed at Madrid manager Diego Simeone, who loaned him out and is yet to give the forward an appearance since he joined the club permanently from Chelsea in 2020.

He scored 22 goals in 61 appearances for Atletico during an 18-month loan spell from the Blues between January 2019 and July 2020, but wasn't part of Simeone's plans going forward.

In 2020, Morata's agent Juanma Lopez said that Juventus would sign Morata at the end of his loan spell - for a fee of £32million - but the move is now up in the air with Juve - who finished fourth in Serie A last season - seemingly uninterested in a permanent deal.

'My wife and children will follow me wherever I need to go,' Morata added.

'I do have preferences and options.'
