The striker assisted Varane's goal before scoring his own to bring France forth to the semi-finals.

Antoine Griezmann wins All Football Man of the Match as France beat Uruguay 2-0 to set up semi-final against Brazil or Belgium.

The Atletico man curled a beautiful cross to assist Varane's goal, giving France an opening lead in the 40th minute.

Then Griezmann netted his own at the second half, when he found space 25 yards out and fired in a shot that should have been routine for Muslera but the ball slipped through his grasp and into the net.

Griezmann becomes the first French player to score and assist a goal in a knockout game of the World Cup since Patrick Vieira against Spain in 2006.

He has scored seven goals in his last six appearances for France in the knockout stages of major tournaments.
