Antonio Conte still fuming over disallowed Tottenham goal as he claims VAR is 'not football'

Antonio Conte claims VAR is killing 'emotion' in football as the Tottenham boss continues to fume over their disallowed winner against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday.

Spurs thought they'd secured a place in the Champions League last 16 when Harry Kane smashed the ball into the back of the net following a neat lay-off from Emerson Royal in the dying seconds of their clash with Sporting.

That was before VAR ruled the England captain offside, despite initial replays appearing to show that he was in fact behind Emerson.

Further analysis suggested that Kane was not behind the ball, which was the most important factor, but that didn't stop Conte from ripping into the match officials after the game and questioning their 'honesty'.

Now the Spurs boss has expressed his frustration with the decision again, hitting out at the VAR technology while again implying a lack of 'honesty' played a part.

'You're already celebrating and then you have to stay five minutes for the decision of the VAR,' Conte said on Friday. 'This is not football. You cut the emotion of everybody, especially the players.

'I hope in every situation to see honesty, I only ask for this. But to make mistakes with VAR, it means you're really, really... I don't want to say what I think.'

Conte then added: 'When I stay at home and I see the images [if] I'm watching another game, for me it's easy to take the best decision. Instead, you see them take the opposite decision and I think maybe I don't know football or they are seeing other images.'
