Manchester United’s hopes of signing Ramus Hojlund have been boosted after Atalanta admitted it would be ‘impossible’ to reject ‘huge’ offers for the striker.
The 20-year-old has attracted attention from Europe’s elite this season after a stunning breakthrough for club and country.
The Dane scored a hat-trick on his international debut against Finland and followed that up four days later with another brace.
Hojlund’s record for his club is more modest, with the striker netting eight times in 23 matches this term.
But the forward has earned comparisons with Erling Haaland given his background, 6ft1in frame and speed.
The Dane is a self-confessed Manchester United fan and would jump at the chance of moving to Old Trafford.
And Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini admits the club would not stand in his way if a ‘huge’ offer arrives this summer.
‘I haven’t seen so many strikers as good as Hojlund at 20. He can improve a lot, he’s great,’ Gasperini said.
‘Top European clubs are always attentive to this kind of top talents. There could be some huge bid for him that would be impossible to reject for us’.
While United have a clear interest in Hojlund, they could postpone a move for him until 2024 or 2025.
The club are focused on signing a ready-made centre forward to lead a title challenge next season.
Harry Kane is Erik ten Hag’s first choice but it’s unclear if Tottenham would allow him to join another Premier League club.
