The biggest radio station in Spain is reporting Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin will join Inter this summer.
AS initially denied Sky Sport Italia’s claim that Godin was on the verge of accepting an offer from Inter.
However, Cadena SER – described as Spain’s ‘premier radio network’ – concedes the 32-year-old has ‘already given his word’ to the Nerazzurri.
The broadcaster adds the Uruguayan will sign a two-year contract with the option for an third at San Siro, worth €5.5m a season.
Godin would have been holding out for a better offer than a one-year extension with Atleti, which is in line with their policy for players over 30.
However, no such proposal appears forthcoming and his Bosman agreement with Inter is described as ‘total in the absence of a signature’.
