Bale names MESSI as the best ever winner of the Champions League, not Ronaldo

Gareth Bale has named Lionel Messi as the best ever winner of the Champions League - betraying his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in the process.

Bale and Portuguese megastar Ronaldo were colleagues for five years at Real Madrid, where they won Europe's elite club trophy four times together.

But when posed the question at PlayStation House, the Welshman briefly paused before responding 'Messi', as shown by a video on Twitter.

Fans on social media were quick to believe that Bale's response was proof that Messi is the greatest ever footballer, instead of Ronaldo.

One joked that Bale had 'bodied' Ronaldo with his response, and that it was something that he had in common with the Argentine legend.

Another noted: 'I’ve never seen any Messi current or former teammate calling Ronaldo the best player'.

A third wrote: 'Tears Ronaldo's own teammates don't rate him.'

Ronaldo is now playing in Saudi Arabia for Al-Nassr, while earlier this week, Messi confirmed that he will link up with MLS side Inter Miami in the USA.

Bale was asked the question ahead of this year's finale between Man City and Inter Milan.
