In an interview with Inter's in house channel Inter TV, midfielder Nicolo Barella has spoken on playing for the Italian national team.
“To get to the national team you need a lot of commitment, a desire to sweat and even a little ambition. At one point in my career I thought it was difficult but then slowly came to realise that I could do it and made it,” he explained.
“Singing the national anthem is beautiful. There is a union not only with the rest of your teammates but the whole stadium.
“We have succeeded in bringing people back to the stadiums to watch us after everything that had happened with the national team in the past and now we have to earn even more respect.”
He ended the interview by speaking on how it felt to score his first goal for Italy: “Scoring my first goal for the national team against Finland was beautiful. All my teammates joke with me and say it was an own goal but it was actually my goal. It was a beautiful moment.
“I didn't have this obsession with scoring goals with neither Cagliari nor Inter but with the National team I want to express this emotion.”
