Gianluigi Buffon claimed “it’s always a pleasure” to play against Real Madrid, as Juventus could draw the Spanish giants in the last 16 of the Champions League.
After the infamous sending off against Los Blancos during the second leg of Juventus’ quarter final tie in the tournament two seasons ago.
Buffon is presented with a possible opportunity to play Real Madrid already in the first round of the knockout stages this campaign but claimed it would only represent a game between “two fantastic” sides.
“It’s always a pleasure meeting Real Madrid,” he told Tuttosport. “The respect I have for their history and their players is huge.
“Despite how it ended last time in Madrid, I look back at that game with a positive mindset. It was an example of determination and strength.
“So, in that case, two fantastic teams would meet again.”
Buffon was back in goal during the 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, representing his first Champions League game for Juventus since the last match against Real Madrid.
