Castillejo: 'Milan are a real family'

Samu Castillejo hails the team spirit at Milan and hopes Brahim Diaz remains after his loan from Real Madrid. ‘We are a real family.’

The Rossoneri are now just one win away from securing their top four status, as they have a superior head-to-head record with Juventus.

They thrashed Torino 7-0 last night with an Ante Rebic hat-trick.

“This was one of the most important games of the season and it’s never easy to play against a side that is fighting to avoid relegation,” Castillejo told Milan TV.

“It was a great performance, as when we are concentrated and really on it, we’re a strong team. We want to achieve our target and qualify for the Champions League, hopefully already on Sunday.”

There is a wonderful team spirit in the Milan camp this term and Brahim Diaz made a strong impact over the last couple of games in his new trequartista role, moving Hakan Calhanoglu to the left, during the loan spell from Real Madrid.

“Brahim is a kid, he’s only 21 years old and I know he cares a lot about Milan. We welcomed him into the group, he’s very talented and we hope he’ll remain with us,” continued Castillejo.

“One of the things I like the most is putting the group above individuals. If we are not united and a real family, it’s impossible to achieve important objectives.

“This year, we really are a team unit. All players have ups and downs during a season, it’s difficult to be at your best for 11 months, but those who stepped in brought something to the team and that is why we are close to our target.”
